The Okavango Delta - One of Africa's greatest wilderness areas

The Okavango Delta is a vast inland river delta which floods seasonally covering an area of up to 15,000 square kilometres.

After rainfall from the Angolan highlands flows into the Okavango River, across the Caprivi Strip and into the Kalahari Desert the delta comes to life with lush grassy plains and verdant river systems creating  an incredibly beautiful, diverse environment for some of the world’s most endangered species.

From above, the view is breathtaking, revealing a labyrinth of channels, papyrus reed walls, and scattered islands, all surrounded by the Kalahari's sands. This dynamic ecosystem, where today's channels may become islands tomorrow, serves as both a permanent and seasonal refuge for abundant bird and wildlife. Here, majestic herds of elephants roam, buffalo graze, and antelope gather under the vigilant watch of predators such as lions, hyenas, leopards, and the rarer cheetah and wild dogs. This extraordinary area is a haven for bird watching, game viewing, photography and of course riding.

The Okavango Delta is so special that in 2014 UNESCO listed it as the 1,000th world heritage site.
